Re: Original 15F oil painting for 3117 appeal
Hi John, thank you. I can do the painting part but I can't do the marketing so I'll leave the ball in your court. Let me know if you need higher definition photos or anything.

Original 15F oil painting for 3117 appeal
Hi all,
We all dream about lottery wins that would allow us to donate large sums of money to get 15F 3117 back on her feet, alas they tend to remain dreams. So we contribute what we can. Sittings thousand of miles away, I can’t unfortunately don overalls and contribute elbow grease but hopefully ...

SAR locos in 7.25" gauge
There can't be many 7.25" gauge locos as big as this:

Roll on Jim's 7.25" gauge 25NC, it's going to be hard to find a big enough track for it....

Re: RSME visited by Reefsteamers
Hi Derek,
Appreciate your postings, nice for me to see locos and faces at the RSME.
I guess the first pic is Ackerman's 19D, that looks like it will be a perfect scale model.
So no sign of the 15F numbe 3000? If you do see the owner again, please try to get their details for me, a fellow 15F ...

Re: A 15F in the UK
it would be heavier than any daughter, unless my daughter weighed more than 130kgs :-)
the loco is 130 kgs (with added lead ballast in the empty spaces under the smokebox) and the tender is about 30 kgs empty. I do have good carrying cradles and heavy plywood crates for both so it is a proposition ...

Re: A 15F in the UK
Thanks Derek, yes would be nice to double-head with that 15F you saw at the Rand SME, same scale, also 1:12. Not as good as the real thing, but here some youtube footage of it with the tender handbrake on to get some good barking:

Re: A 15F in the UK
Thanks John,
I can't take much credit though, it was finished 39 years ago by Ron Etter, and started in the late 1950s by Jimmy Scott! It was running when I got it, but the piston rings were non existent and the valves were leaking. I replaced both and it's like new. I made some cosmetic additions ...

A 15F in the UK
My 15F before public running at the Guildford SME in April, on a decent day. Still not as good as African sunshine though...

Re: Rand Society of Model Engineers
Thanks Derek. I was wondering why the union link looked like it was in a funny position in your photo, must have been lost on the track. Luckily for him it should be easy to replace a pin or nut.
If you do see him one day, tell him his loco looks great, with some nice realistic detail, especially ...

Re: Rand Society of Model Engineers
Nice Derek, any way you could find out the details of the chap (lady!?) who owns the 15F? I have one too (see pic posted last year) so always nice to be in touch with fellow owners...
cheers

Weather's pretty miserable here in the UK, my 15F's desperate to bask in the African sun. Some youtube footage if anyone's interested:
