Geoff's Trains steam charter season in southern Africa

Post by John Ashworth »

The Geoff's Trains annual steam charter season in southern Africa is planned to
run as follows:

03 to 12 May 2013. Stars of Sandstone Festival (including exclusive photo
charters) and Natal Narrow Gauge (two Avonside tanks).
12 to 17 May 2013. Garratts in Natal. Narrow Gauge NGG11 and Cape Gauge GMAM.
18 to 25 May 2013. Garratts to Victoria Falls. Class 14A, 15 and 16A.
24 to 28 May 2013. Bulawayo, home of the working Garratt fleet.
28 to 31 May 2013. Selebe Phikwe, Botswana. Industrial steam – class 19D.
There is a Chobe wildlife option between 25 and 27 May that can replace the
Bulawayo option, but still link up with Selebe Phikwe.

These modules can be combined to create a tour that suits your interests, for
example:

Two foot Narrow Gauge – Sandstone and Natal.
Garratts – Natal and Victoria Falls.
South Africa – Sandstone and Natal.
Zimbabwe – Victoria Falls and Bulawayo.
Sandstone and Natal are offering hands on for experienced footplate crew
(subject to approval from the train operators. This is to assist with
operations, not driver's experience).

The Selebe Phikwe trip starts in Bulawayo and ends in Johannesburg.
There are tourist options during the Zimbabwe tours that make them suitable for
both enthusiasts and partners.

Some modules already confirmed, but a few more bookings are needed to confirm
the full season. Bookings definitely open right now!
