History of an old abandoned rail line

I am hoping that someone will be able to assist me to dig up some history of an old abandoned rail line that runs on my father’s farm which is situated on the outskirts of Vereeniging. The GPS co-ordinates are 26°39’28”S 28°12’05”E. Below are pictures of the lines and the platform.
