A local book - "Steam Passion" by Paul Hloben is now available.

The price of the book is R260 COD. If you wish to receive it by post the price will change to R290 (South Africa) packaging and postage.

This book covers four loosely defined periods; the heydays of steam - mid 1960s to mid 1970s, the steam demise mid 1970s to 1992, the enthusiast era 1980s to 1997 and the preservationist era - 1990s to 2007. The various steam heritage bodies are covered, with a bit more emphasis on Reefsteamers (natural as the author is a member of this group).

Colour and a few black & white photographs illustrate 54 different classes of locomotive.

This book is a nice coffee table table, although the extensive use of black pages for a background may irritate some!

Dylan - have been in communication with Paul - the book is only available from the Author.

Because it is locally printed and a short run (1,000 copies) there is very little profit on the book - retailers mark up pretty high and this would then put in the book in the unaffordable bracket!

And it is only short run as mentioned!

Just received my copy. I can confirm that this book is fantastic. Brilliant shots of FOTR locos etc. Well worth it!
