We're fortunate to have a huge stack of spares for steam locomotives, most of them new.

Blimey ! Seems to be enough spare cylinders, steel tyres, boiler parts, superheater elements, etc. to keep the steamers going for the next two centuries. Probably more than enough bits to build a new loco.

It certainly looks that way - it's a huge compound, and I didn't even get into the locked stores. Welcome to the forum, Tony - your first post.

whoa! so can they restore other locos there with these spares?

I suppose one would have to do an inventory to see exactly what spares are there. There might be loads of spares for particular classes and none for others. In practice I don't think we have the resources to restore too many locos at the moment, but I believe there are one or two more in the museum that are potentially restorable.
