"Underground: Official Handbook" by Bob Bayman

Post by Kevin Wilson-Smith »

A small paperback (80 pages) and published by Capital Transport Publishing, this book is reasonably priced at 8 pounds.

Despite the number of pages, it is of a moderate format (23 by 20cm) and has masses of colour pictures and information.

Chapters cover the early history, modern developments, rolling stock, each of the lines, operation and other aspects.

For anyone wanting an informed, easy to read introduction and overview to the London Underground (excluding the Docklands Light Railway) I would recommend this. It is not loaded with boring detail, but has enough to keep up the interest of any enthusiast......

Buy it from Foyle's in London if you are visiting (light enough to carry back) or from amazon.co.uk
