Interesting to see that Reefsteamers still operates locos "largely owned by South African Railways (Spoornet)" some years after Spoornet ceased to be!

There is a very telling comment by David Morgan from UK (Transport Trust/Heritage Railway Association/FEDECRAIL), who says, "'It was mentioned by more than one South African that trains were all too often seen as separating friends and families, whereas in Europe the general perception is that they unite people." This apartheid-era baggage is too often ignored by the South African heritage rail community in its not too successful attempts to interest the majority population in South Africa's railway heritage.
