Wedding congratulations - Turtle and Crow

Post by John Ashworth »

Congratulations to Slow Turtle (Mike) and Hears Crow (Claudia) who are getting married in a Native American ceremony in Vermont, USA, on 4th April 2009. I'm sure all at FOTR wish you a long and happy future together.

Mike, we're sorry that none of your fellow firemen could be there to support you. We could have formed an archway of crossed shovels for the happy couple to walk under, substituted good quality steam coal for confetti, or perhaps posed for the photographers with our Vis Vaporis tattoos on display. Mind you, after what ol' Trainman got up to during your daughter's wedding a few years back, maybe you're better off without us!

Best wishes for the future from Jane and myself. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we'll definitely be with you in spirit (using more than one definition of that word!) on the day itself.

Slow Turtle, may I echo John's sentiments. Best wishes to both yourself and to Hears Crow from Sue and I. May your life together be long and happy. Not wielding shovels and fire-irons, we at the back of the train will form the "Guards of Honour".

When the Moon is in the seventh sky, and Jupiter, is the norm. We will think of you, as the wolf does cry and wish you on the turn. The turn of life as it reaches you now, is how it has to be. Two is one and may be three, but wherever you travel, our thoghts will be with thee.
Journey on Turtle and Crow as you take the road that lies before you, and enjoy what it will reveal, for now, for ever, never looking back.
Lotsa luva and luck.

Good luck to you both! Mike, you'll end up being more (Native) American than I am! All the best, Tom

Mike has confirmed to me that the wedding took place, with about 100 guests. There was much drumming and dancing and eating of traditional Native American food. There was even some snow on the way to the ceremony. And one of the wedding gifts was a pair of tickets to ride on a US steam train, so the railway link was there!

There was a song on the hit parade some years ago, by the group, the TURTLES and it was called "Happy Together". Something like " imagine me and you, we two, no matter what they talk about da..da.daa..were happy together,,,"
Come on Rocker Stev A, you know!!

One of the few groups to have knocked the Beatles off the top of the hit parade!
The Turtles "Happy Together" released 1966:

Imagine me and you, I do
I think about you day and night, it's only right
To think about the girl you love and hold her tight
So happy together

If I should call you up, invest a dime
And you say you belong to me and ease my mind
Imagine how the world could be, so very fine
So happy together

I can't see me lovin' nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue
For all my life

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together

I can't see me lovin' nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue
For all my life

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together

Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba
Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together

So happy together
How is the weather
So happy together
We're happy together
So happy together
Happy together
So happy together
So happy together (ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba)
