HRASA PUBLIC STATEMENT
The Board of Directors (BoD) of the Heritage Railway Association of South Africa (HRASA) would like to bring
the following to your attention:
It has been recognised that HRASA is not performing as it should be, and is facing mounting difficulties. An
initiative is underway to restructure the organisation, and create a positive framework for the future operations
and undertakings by the heritage community.
At a meeting of the HRASA BoD in Port Elizabeth on 4 April 2009, the incumbent chairman, Mark Robinson, stood
down in the interests of the Association. He, however, retains his position on the Board.
In terms of company law, the incumbent vice-chairman, Chris Janisch, has accepted his appointment as Acting
Chairman. He will hold this post until the next AGM, when the members are free to elect a new chairman for the
forthcoming year.
There is considerable work to do now, particularly with regards to rebuilding relations with Transnet and
Government. We ask for the full support of the heritage railway community, so that we may progress in our quest
to become an effective and respected organisation.
We also undertake to be transparent and impartial in our business, and will regularly keep the community updated
with regards to progress made.
Thank you for your understanding.
