Hercules station and 3334 is ready to depart for Magaliesburg with train 904, the daily mixed. This was in the latter days of steam operations. Today Hercules sees the FOTR operations, as they are based off to the right in the marshalling yard area.. The water column at Hercules still stands.

3334 takes on the branch line to Magaliesburg at Hercules. This was the start of the branch line. In the background is the main line to the North and Hercules station to the far right out of sight. The FOTR current site is to the right. This cabin still exists for the shunters.

Class 19D number 3344 stands at Sandpits halt, whilst driver Cliff Petzer exchanges the wooden train staff for the next section to Meerhof. These yellow boxes were a familiar site on the line. Such working still exists at Rayton, for the Cullinan branch. 1980's
