Some pictures of Class 34's locos (1995)

Post by Andreas Umnus »

Here are still some pictures of locos of the class 34 I took when I was for holiday in South Africa in 1995.

The first two pictures are taken at the Gourits Bridge.

The locos have already left the bridge, the cars are still on the bridge.

Now I jump to Kroonstadt where I took these pictures of class 34 locos in the depot there.
34 049 stands in the depot of Kroonstad. Behind her stands the 34 062.

34 049 stands next to 34 062 at the depot. Both locos have different paintings.

This is the first time I see class 34 being used on the Worcester - Voorbaai line. I did however see 2 sometime ago being towed dead behind 33's to Worcester, probably for maintenance. Were 34's regularly used in the past on this line?
