- At the Friends site, work is being carried out on stalwart engine 3664,
class 24 Joanna. She has had her smokebox door replaced and newly painted, while Nataniel the assistant, gets to grips with the pneumatic wire brush, to dress the smokebox, prior to painting. - capitalpark jan2008locos 008.jpg (29.8 KiB) Viewed 2762 times

- The smokestack still to be done, we see how smart Joanna is looking. The 24 class had her smokebox door replaced and now the final coats of heat-resistant black mixed with sliver powder is applied.

This is how we need to start keeping the lococ looking. Notice the people involved in the work on these photos. Where are the club members?!

Elbow grease and a can of grey and black paint?
Seriously though, not sure what you mean as how are locos normally maintained?

Dylan, I'm sure Nathan will answer when he gets on line tonight, but here's my take on it. We're in a bit of a transition stage in FOTR at the moment.
In the past, virtually all work (apart from certain very specialised things, particularly those which needed certification) was done by FOTR members on a voluntary basis.
As the workload increases (we're running more trains than ever, and also dealing with the planned move from Capital Park to Hercules) and as the number of working memebrs decreases, we're increasingly having to sub-contract work out, and to pay labourers to do much of the cleaning and other routine tasks.

Just curious but your locos look good anyway!
