Do TRF do a trolley inspection of the line for you guys before each trip? Jeez, that is certainly not a pleasant sight for any footplate crew. Good thing the track didn't spread under the loco with the nuts removed from the securing plates on the sleepers.
I would imagine it was a long way to push the train back from there..

Brendon, fairly soon after realising the loco was stnding on unbolted track we replaced the locating plates, washers and nuts on the outsides of both rails, tightening them down with shifting spanners to ensure that rail spreading could not happen, especially anticipating the upcoming need to set back. A track master inspected our handiwork and then gave the OK to push back. This point was about 7.5 km down the branch so we had quite a way to set back, stopping to protect 5 level crossings en route.
