Taken with a little camera thats on its last legs.

What was interesting was with the picture taking - all the station staff took note and were very wary - except the drivers who seemed quite happy - but noone actually said anything to me!

Went like "'Ere - that blokes been taking photos..." and then into a huddle at the end of the platform where I was then watched!

There's a huge amount of discussion in the UK railway press about taking photos. Officially it's allowed (providing it doesn't cause danger, obstruct the flow of passengers, blind the drivers with flash, and a few other common sense things), and both the British Transport Police and the Association of Train Operating Companies have confirmed this publicly. However that message doesn't seem to have filtered down to some of the lower level employees (known as "jobsworths" in the UK - "It's more than my bleedin' job's worth, guv...") and photographers still find themselves harrassed from time to time.

If you're going to take train photos regularly in the UK it might be good to print off a copy of the British Transport Police's Advice for Rail Enthusiasts visiting stations on the National Rail network which can be found on their website (link was published on this forum about a year ago here) and carry it with you.
