Seen on 13/12/2008, two newly-painted purple 18Es Nos 412 and 404 are hauled into Pyramid South yard.
The livery is not as garish as one might imagine.
We are truly a railway rainbow nation!

There was a hit song once by Prince called"Purple Train, Purple Train!!". Nice colours and note the different numbering letter heights. I wonder if each end has different sizes of lettering. The national flag helps to denote the country of origin, as with all these new colour schemes and names like NATCOR etc., sometimes one wonders what railways are using the motive power. Nice to get a line up of all the loco loveries sometime.

Saw two of these purple 18E locos hauling a Shlosh Meyl pax train northbound in the Breede valley a little way off the N1 whilst driving towards Du Toit's Kloof tunnel just south of Worcester last week Sunday. Too far away to read the numbers. This means that these locos are not confined to the Premier Classe nor to the central region.

At last we have some fresh Loco's in the Western Cape. I hope they keep them clean. I will try get some shots of them sometime and post on FOTR
