I went down to the sea today. "Oosterzee"

Post by Stefan Andrzejewski »

I found this great photographic spot today ducking through traffic. Its on Oosterzee station. Oosterzee is in a cutting. Last Metro stop before Bellville. The line splits up here. The Main Line goes through to Bellville. The Lines on the right go down into Bellville Freight and Loco Depot. I was perched about 4.5 metres above the line. The Jhb-Ct Prem Classe came through first. A staggering 45 minutes early. Then the CT - PE on time. More to follow. Also will post on the Diesel side. It was very cloudy when I first got there.

The electric is interesting, last I saw the PE train it was a diesl, especially because Worcester to PE is not electric.

They normally run Ct to Worcester with 6E's and Worcester onwards Diesel (Class33). Two Class 35's have been seen pulling the Premier Classe from Cape Town

Those coaches need some sort of line to break the purple monotony, maybe a nice logo or squiggle. This colour scheme does not shout "great train" it shouts "
boring train".
Not quite on the rails.

I must agree with you, Derek, for a luxury train and the way the interior is done, it's pretty damn boring. If I didn't know any better and drove alongside a railway track and there was this purple snake, I would wonder what migrant workers it was carrying and why they needed such a shiny train.

On 27 March PE-meyl had blue 35.009 and orange 35.499 pulling it out of Cape Town station with quite a roar.

Shoz meyl must have bought an over supply on purple paint. Maybe it was a good deal from a cousin. Its really inside the train that counts. The staff do a superb job. They can keep the Blue Train

JA, but it's the outside impression that's the first impression and that's the thing that's going to attract more passengers.

The only problem with the staff is that the best staff was transferred from Tourist trains to Premiere Classe so now the ones on the Tourist Class is sometimes not that hot.
