"New batch" 18E's - "NATCOR Cars"

Post by Kevin Wilson-Smith »

Took this pic the other day of these two engines in the middle of a consist - from the numbers so called "new batch" 18E's - 18-210 and 18-244.

NATCOR stands for NATAL CORRIDOR (so it goes), but this is the first time I have seen the appendage "CARS" used....

Maybe the drivers think that they can go fast like "Nascars"

Stefan, that is a hard one to answer. The line during the week can be rather busy with long container trains, fuel trains and other freight. A fair number of Metro trains. Locomotives seen are 6E1 and 18E. You will also see the class 8E and plenty of diesels. The line is semi busy on a Saturday and quite on a Sunday but I have had some good sessions on a Sunday.

Thanx thats interesting. I am surprised they don't use 10E's or 14e's with the heavy freight pulled.
