Class 33 Saldanha Iron Ore

Post by Aidan McCarthy »

Hi,

Once the iron ore trains arrive in the main yard they are broken up and shunted down to the unloading area by diesel as that section of line is not electrified. I caught a very sick class 33 bringing back a load of empties after off-loading.

Nice realistic scene which could come from 30 years ago.
Thanks Aidan for your postings, looks like you had an interesting day!

Hi,

I think it may be 495, the numberplate is not very clear as the shots were taken on telephoto.

Cheers

Aidan
