Safety cabs

Post by fanie kleynhans »

Hi all, this afternoon at Brackenfell a coal train behind 4 x blue 35 locos went past, on 3 of them i noticed some safety thingy next to the side windows. This is the first time that i see this, is the train perhaps going through a bad area to protect the crew?

Several 35's on the Caledon line also fitted with these.

It's also a common sight on the 35 class diesels based at Masons Mill which work the Cape Natal line which has to pass through the Edendale location just outside Pietermaritzburg. Having stones and rocks thrown at trains isvery common.
