Unfortunately low light and a hand held shot of this CA standing under the water column at Cullinan, spoil the photo somewhat, but this was the regular procedure with this train set. Afternoon arrival at Cullinan, the coaches were stabled here, whilst the loco returned with a goods to Pretoria. Later that night, a goods working to Cullinan and that loco then returned with these coaches. If quick enough on the shunt, then there could be lots of sleep time under the column!

There was a daily train that left from Cullinan at around 6:15 am for Pretoria on weekdays. The cosy lights of Cullinan have the waiting passengers getting the last bit of warmth in the waiting room.

Very historic. How long did it take in those days for the train to reach pretoria? I guess that it was almost packed to capacity every morning?
