NEW TRAINSETS FOR TUNISIA

On September 11, 2012 Railways Africa

Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Tunisiens (SNCFT – the Tunisian National Railways) has taken delivery of four 130km/h, 117-seat, diesel-multiple-unit sets built by the China South concern. They form part of an order for 20 trains signed in 2009, for use on the metre-gauge sections Tunis-Bizerte, Tunis-Sousse-Sfax-Gabes, Tunis-Beja-Jendouba-Ghardimaou and Tunis-Gaâfour-Kalaa-Khasba-El Kef. The first two sets arrived in March 2012 and the rest of the order is expected before the end of the year, transport minister Abdelkarim Harouni says.
